Meet Janet

I started my career in the restaurant industry and spent almost 15 years as a General Manager for Houlihan’s Restaurant Group before finding my true passion for Talent Development and Human Resources. I have had the opportunity to develop and lead Human Resources departments with Capital Restaurant Concepts, Morton’s – The Steakhouse and most recently as the Chief People Officer for B.R Guest Hospitality. In each of those positions, I was responsible for human resources, staffing, talent development, benefits, risk management, HRIS and organizational development.

As the Founder and President of HR Aligned Design, I strive to leverage my operations, human resources and executive level experience to provide insights to the challenges facing organizations today. I work with my clients to gain an understanding of their company, develop practical solutions and facilitate change that will enhance their business performance through people.

My education includes a bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Cornell University and professional certifications in Training from Georgetown University, Everything DiSC Profile, Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, Lominger Architect, as a Society of Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

I am an active member and past president in CHART, the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers,  a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and currently Co-President of the New York City SHRM Chapter.  I have enjoyed opportunities to speak at the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers, the National Restaurant Association Show, The International Restaurant and Food Service Show of New York, HR in Hospitality, FSTech, the New York, Maryland, Florida State SHRM Conferences, the Gulf Coast Symposium, HR Southwest and client conferences.

Having started my college education as a design major, I am thrilled whenever I can carve out a few spare moments to spend time working in mixed media, books arts and collage; taking or teaching classes.
